This article will go over the steps connecting QuickBooks Desktop to enable imports of customer & tax lists, as well as the syncing of invoices & bills.
If your QuickBooks Desktop copy is one that is accessed through a remote-hosted service (such as Right Networks), please begin by connecting to the remote-hosted copy by using the login given by the remote service. In most situations, this will be a Remote Desktop Connection with an icon to connect sitting on the desktop. Once connected to the remote-hosted environment, open QuickBooks then use the steps below to ensure CLIPitc is connected properly.
Note: Using this type of setup will ensure QuickBooks Desktop is connected to CLIPitc whenever a connection to QuickBooks is needed, but this also means that you may be switching back and forth to the remote-host environment and the computer that is normally used for daily work.
Before we begin, it is important to always create a backup of your QuickBooks company file before every syncing action. You will always manually sync QuickBooks and CLIPitc together, since neither we nor Intuit the developers of QuickBooks particularly recommend AutoRun. Please make a backup, now.
To begin, we need the QuickBooks Web Connector. If you aren't already familiar with this program, the QuickBooks Web Connector is a utility developed by Intuit, the developer for QuickBooks, for Web Based Programs such as CLIPitc to enable synchronization of data between the two pieces of software.
First, to start setting up your Quickbooks Web Connector, please go to "Settings" (1) then "QuickBooks" (2).
Now check the box labeled "Use QuickBooks Desktop"
Now, importantly, click "Save" at the top of the frame.
Once you have done this, you will see two links below. Click on the "Download QuickBooks Web Connector" link first.
Once the download finishes, please open it.
You will then see the install begin, but before it does you will need to read and accept the terms in order to allow it to install. Once you have, just click "Next."
After clicking "Next" you will then be able to install the web connector to your computer.
Just click "Install", then "Finish", after the install processes completes. You should now see a shortcut on your desktop. This does not mean that the web connector is ready to go yet. We have a few more steps to complete!
Before continuing, make sure your QuickBooks Desktop is open on your computer.
Now click the second link called "Download Setting File" this file will create the link between your CLIPitc account and your QuickBooks Web Connector. Which will connect your ITC account to your QuickBooks Desktop file.
When the download for the setting file finishes, go ahead and open it.
Once you do, you will see both the web connector program open, and a request from your QuickBooks file, asking if you would like to allow ITC access to your QuickBooks File. Please click "OK" to this message.
To make the connection live, please check the box next to the ClipITC import field.
