Using Job Changes can be extremely useful once you understand how to use them correctly. Job Changes are best used for jobs can have a standard base, but also the option to vary depending on circumstances. An example of this could be weekly mowing. This is standard job that typically has some base charges, but if it rains a lot and you need to double cut the location, by using Job Change you can easily modify the job to represent the change.

We will start with setting up the pattern Job Change. Go to Patterns>Pattern Job Changes

  • Pattern Jobs - Select the pattern job you want to build the change off of

  • Change Name - What do you want to call the change to be able to identify it when you are selecting the change (this is useful when you have snow removal jobs and you have different changes set up to represent how many inches you are clearing)

  • Job Charge - Do you have a flat fee you want to charge for this service you can just update that here as opposed to individually per customer which (most cases it would be set up per customer)

  • Description - This will adjust what you want the display name to be for the job (how it will show up in history and on invoices)

  • Mhr - How many man hours will this job take (again this is one that is typically set up per customer

Once you have set up the base go ahead and hit process, then you will see it generated on the list below.

See my example below

Now we can jump to a customer and make sure it set up for my Lawn Maintenance job. You will notice the job is set up, all I need to do now it hit the "Job Change" button.

Because I am under my Lawn Maintenance job, I can see the "Double Cut" change I just set up in the drop down menu. I will go ahead and choose that then fill in all the good stuff which will make it how it want for this job. I am only going to really worry about updating the Job Charge for this.

Hitting process will add this job change to this job as an option.

The next step is to simply record the work as it has been done, either the crews in the field or you in the office can just enter the times, mark the work as done, then finalize.

Once finalized go ahead and view the batch.

Now we can apply the change we have created for the job. Notice when I view this batch I see the job as it is set up and supposed to be. Once I select the job change from the drop down, select the job I want to change and hit "Apply Changes" it will auto adjust the details, such as the Job Charge.

Lets double back to the customer history screen to see how it looks.

Notice the the difference between the two jobs, its the same job, just with a Job Change applied to the one line. ***Note, this is the job done 2 separate times I recorded it twice today.
