This article will show the steps for using Google Maps with the desktop ( XE ) version of CLIP Software.

We will start with using the map button from the main customer screen. After that, we'll show the steps for routing the work orders/route sheets and then round's invoices/driver sheets.

First of all, make sure the software is updated to the latest version.
See the button below to make sure the version you have installed is up to date:

Using Google Maps individually per customer using the map button

After making sure that the software is up to date, click Customer List from the main screen of the software at the top right. Find a customer (any customer) and click on the map button as seen in the screenshot below:

This can also be accessed using the See On Map button from the Property Info tab.

Routing Customers through Work Orders / Route Sheets

In order to be sure that Google Maps will route efficiently every time, each customer will need their latitude and longitude filled in.

Click the button below in order to do this:

After lat/lon is filled in, complete the steps below for routing customer through work order/route sheets:

From the main screen of CLIP, select "Work Orders."

If you haven't refreshed the work bank yet, it will ask you to do so.

Once work is loaded, you are ready to route using Google Maps. Ensure that the Manual/MapPoint option is selected from the Sort Options and then click Optimize Route (send online)

After you click this, CLIP will open a browser window that looks similar to the screenshot below:

Notice, we've picked a VERY wide date range. Please pick the date range for when your jobs are scheduled. Pick the same dates that are on the route sheets window or give a wider date range depending on how the jobs are scheduled.

Pick a job number or pick a crew range. Verify that the Starting Address is correct and then click "Get Routing."

Click "optimize stops" to have Google Maps put the jobs in an efficient order OR you can manually drag and drop the jobs to put them in the order that works best for your company. If you manually changed the order, you will want to click "Save New Order."

Open the office desktop version of CLIP and click "Optimize Route" ( Receive Jobs Online ). This receives the jobs into the Work Orders/Route Sheets

At this point, you can click "Print" to see the sheets and the order that was defined with Google Maps.

Routing with Rounds Invoices using Google Maps in Programs/Rounds

Click "Rounds Invoices" from the main screen of CLIP. Those that have been using Programs/Rounds should be familiar with this screen. If you are not familiar with this screen, see the button below for a refresher on it:

Pick the "Program and Round" on the first screen and continue to the second screen.

Select the "Rounds" using the Inc? column. Click on "Map" when ready to route those rounds.

From the screenshot above, you will click the box icon at the top right and then draw a box around the properties. Click "Post to Database."

Now, go back to the office desktop software and click "Download From Map." Click "Process and Return."

At this point, the process of routing is finished and you can print out the sheets. The rounds should show up the way they were optimized from Google Maps.
