If you have a new computer or if you have a new installation of Microsoft Office (this includes Microsoft Excel), then you might run into this problem. With newer versions of Microsoft Office, they introduce default settings( if they are not turned off). It will not let you open Microsoft Excel from CLIP.

While you have Microsoft Excel open, click File then click Options.

After clicking Options select General towards the left hand side.

Make sure that the setting "Include this many sheets" is on "3" instead of "1".

After this, select Trust Center towards the left hand side.

Click Trust Center Settings button towards the right side of the options window.

Select File Block Settings, notice all the checkboxes outlined in the screenshot above? Uncheck every checkbox, making sure that every option on the right hand side is unchecked then click Ok towards the bottom.

At this point, you should be able to output a report from CLIP to Microsoft Excel.
